Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 3 /160c. 
  • Line a 10” x 8 baking tray with greaseproof paper. 
  • Add the brownie mix to a bowl and slowly add 200ml water and 100ml vegetable oil. Beat by hand or on a slow speed for 2 minutes with a mixer. Scrape down the sides then slowly mix for a further 2 minutes. 
  • Optional: Add 100g of chocolate chips and blend in for 30 seconds. 
  • Spread into the baking tray evenly and bake for approximately 1 hour on the middle shelf. 
  • To check if cooked, open the oven, pull out the shelf a little and gently shake the tin. If the brownie wobbles in the middle, slide back in, re-check every 5 minutes. 
  • The brownie is cooked when there is no wobble and the sides have begun to come away from the tin. 
  • Leave to completely cool before cutting.
